Answer : The majority of the substances that make up the human body can be found in nature. The top ten elements in the human body by mass % are listed below:

  1. Oxygen (O) – 65%
  2. Carbon (C) – 18%
  3. Hydrogen (H) – 10%
  4. Calcium (Ca) – 1.5%
  5. Nitrogen (N) – 3%
  6. Potassium (K) – 0.25%
  7. Phosphorus (P) – 1%
  8. Sodium (Na) – 0.15%
  9. Sulfur (S) – 0.25%
  10. Chlorine (Cl) – 0.15%

These ten substances collectively account for 99% of the bulk of the human body. Magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, iodine, and many more elements are also present although in smaller concentrations.
