What is Respiratory Syncytial Virus in adults?

Answer : Respiratory Syncytial Virus, also known as RSV, is a very contagious virus that frequently infects both adults and children with respiratory diseases. RSV can cause symptoms in adults that are comparable to a cold, such as a runny nose, cough, congestion, and sore throat. RSV can, however, occasionally result in more serious symptoms like pneumonia or bronchitis.

RSV may be more likely to cause severe symptoms in persons with compromised immune systems, such as the elderly or those with specific medical disorders. RSV is not specifically treatable, and the majority of patients recover on their own with rest and drinks. However, severe cases could call for hospitalisation as well as oxygen therapy or antiviral drugs.
