What is the source of biomass energy?

Answer : Organic matter from plants, trees, crops, and animal waste is the source of biomass energy. Many materials, including wood, wood chips, sawdust, grasses, agricultural waste, food waste, and municipal solid waste, can be used to create biomass energy. Before being burned or transformed into other types of energy, the organic matter is normally collected and treated to remove impurities and moisture.

A range of thermal and biological conversion techniques, such as combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, and fermentation, can also be used to produce biomass energy. In some circumstances, biomass energy can also be utilised directly, such as when cooking with biogas or burning wood for heat.
